GBC® to Introduce the New eBinder 200TM In-Line Mechanical Binding System at On Demand 2009

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL, March 31, 2009 – GBC, a market leader in document finishing, introduces the eBinder 200, the world’s first automated, mechanical binding system that finishes a full range of document sizes with a newly developed single binding element that adjusts automatically to every book thickness. Printed and bound documents are quickly and easily produced when connected, in-line with Xerox Corporation’s Nuvera® 100/120/144 EA Production Systems, Xerox Nuvera® 288 EA Perfecting Production System or the new Xerox Nuvera 200 EA Perfecting Production System. This automated solution produces the lowest total cost book of any punch and bind method available today. The Xerox Nuvera 200 EA system and eBinder 200 will be on display at the Xerox booth No. 2000 at the On Demand Expo, March 30 through April 2, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA.

The GBC eBinder 200 was created to eliminate production costs associated with the labor intensive steps of traditional punching and binding. Lay flat book production has become as easy as printing with eBinder’s fully automated workflow. Now, the user has the ability to completely finish documents from 2 to 200 pages on-the-fly without the added downtime for set-ups and changeovers. The eBinder requires fewer touches in production, eliminates inventories of varying size elements, and yields dramatic improvements in job cycle times. Ultimately, this means delivering work faster and at higher profits. “We’re very pleased to be partnering with Xerox to deliver this ground breaking new technology,” explained Rick McCallion, Vice President Integrated OEM Solutions for GBC and ACCO. “In addition to speed and convenience, the eBinder 200 creates an impressive contemporary looking document.”

The key to the system is the new, “one-size-fits-all”, GBC Ellipse™ element. The innovative Ellipse design is the next generation in mechanical binding that produces elegant lay-flat, 360° wrap-around books. This element also offers a fresh, modern appearance compared to older styles of mechanical binding. The patented elliptical profile of the Ellipse element creates more compact documents for improved shipping, storing and stacking of bound documents. The elements are available in four color choices in a compact easy load 50-pack cassette.

The Nuvera-eBinder solution will handle a wide range of media up to 80lb. or 216 gsm paper stocks as well as index tabs. The system also handles specially designed clear covers available directly from Xerox. The eBinder has a small footprint and adds only 22.8 linear inches to the Nuvera installation.

The GBC eBinder 200 adds yet another finishing option for Nuvera system users, creating high quality, professional lay-flat books that printers and clients alike will be proud of.
